Professor Kwang-Hyun Cho's research team employed a computational gene network model from single-cell RNA sequencing to pinpoint essential mechanisms of the process. 

According to their study, it is possible to induce a reversal process and restore cancerous cells to normal by capturing the crucial transition phase—prior to cancer cells becoming fully malignant.

A critical transition refers to a situation where there is a sudden shift at a point, like the way water vaporizes into steam at 100℃.

Their research targeted colon cancer cells, using this molecular switch and seeing a successful return to normal cell properties.
